In these tumultuous times, I try to remember to get enough sleep and stay hydrated. Good sleep doesn't always happen when you've got kids, but you can at least try to set yourself up by going to bed early!
I love to drink tea, but recently found out that petroleum-based plastic tea bags release tons of microplastics into your water as you seep them in hot water! Plastic and heat don't go well together.
I switched to plastic-free tea bags from Bigelow Tea (#teaproudly). Numi Organic Tea also makes bags that are plastic-free. I learned that if tea bags are not explicitly written to be 100% compostable and biodegradable on their packaging, then you have to assume that the bags are made of petroleum-based plastic. After I drink my tea, my 100% compostable tea bag goes into my compost.
Maybe if I bought tea leaves and put them in a metal strainer, I wouldn't have to worry about releasing microplastics into my hot water. What loose tea do you enjoy drinking? One day I might have to make another switch! That way I can avoid foil packets and cardboxes all together!
Do you have a brand of tea that you like that you wish switched to compostable tea bags? Have you told them?

Hi Nancy. I drink Sencha from Chado Tea in Vancouver. I order enough door doesn’t have to be delivered too often. I like Kirari (out until Sping) but started a new one this morning which I also like called Manryo. My son brought me an oolong from Taiwan called milk tea which I also love. I use a metal infuser made by OXO I think. I also drink jasmine bead loose tea.
I love you are doing this.
